Annual Day Concert in the Academy

The Annual Day Concert of the Academy is a major gala. This is the day when all deserving students (usually everyone)  get to perform on a big stage.

Since the Academy has more than 50 students, we mostly have group performances.  The deserving senior most students get a chance for solo performances.  Practices start 2 months ahead.

A typical format for our concert is that we start with our academy's standard invocation - Shree Ganeshay Dheemahi -  in a new format every year.  If not this, The invocation is always dedicated to Lord Ganesha. This is followed by the lighting of the traditional lamp. Usually , we request other teachers who are gracing the occasion to do the honours.

After the invocation of lord Ganesha,  we start with the performances from the junior-most and proceed to the senior most students.  Usually the last program is reserved for Mrs. Shraddha Prabhu, the headmistress of the academy.

We usually try to have a concert theme, but given the dynamic nature of students levels and expertise, we sometime do digress.

The one year that was indeed memorable was the 2017 concert which was held in Feb 2018.  The theme was 'Katyar Kalzaat Ghusli'  -  A very popular Sangeet Natak and then movie having totally classical based songs.

The Annual day is also the time when students get their level  certificates and trophies and medals for contests held through out the year.  Apart from that, every participant is given a medal and gift.

We also try to host a felicitation of an eminent teacher.

This is a contributory event considering the exorbitant cost of the halls, music system, accompanists. So students are requested to contribute.  The medals and gifts are from the academy's treasury though.

All in all , The Annual Day concert is a hugely attended and a much avowed  event.   We request all students, current and erstwhile, irrespective of stage participation  and academy affiliations to attend with their family and friends. The entry is always free.
